Example of how to use a Hand Held Bar Code Scanner
In this example we are going to see how a hand held scanner can work for your business.
This specific process covers the picking/checking of a Sales Order and the updating of that sales order with quantity actually picked for dispatch. The actual process can be configured for your particular requirements. You can run it using a PC or a mobile hand held scanner . |
. Remember to ensure you change the status of the sales order from quotation to an order Preparation of the data
1-Add some users that are allowed to scan in the WBS system. Select Menu Master Information-MO Person and add some users in the Add New records Section along with a value in the Short Code. This Short Code will be used as the scanning code to scan a user onto the hand held scanner
2-Add some products into the WBS system .Select Master Files -Products and add some products with a bar code in the inner bar code

3-Add a Sales order with a selection of the products above. Menu Sales -Sales Order and ADD a new sales order. Remember to change the status from a Quotation to an order and note the sales order number
Now you are ready to use the hand held scanner to update this particular order

Step 1 Log onto your WBS system and select menu Dispatch and receive goods -SO Checking Mobile
The following small scanning screen will appear.

Stage 1- As you can see it starts with "Please scan your badge"

Simply scan or enter your user short code you entered above.
Stage 2-Now it will ask you for the Sales order number you want to update so enter the sales order number
Stage 3- Now scan your Product Bar code
Options here are:
type LOGOUT - To log the user off the scanning system CANCEL - To cancel that Sales order 99999 - To end the entry of products and remove or add to the sales order Once you have entered 99999 to finish scanning products the system will show a summary of what you have scanned and ask you if you want to add these products to the order or just update the order

Stage 4-Notice it displayed the Customer name so you can check you have the correct one. Now it is asking for the product
Finally enter the quantity you have picked and press enter.
his will show the items scanned and take you back to Stage 3.
